20mm APDS

Many years ago I picked up some 20mm APDS which I was lead to believe were for the 20x102 case.

Recently having purchased several legitimate examples of the 20mm CIWS I noticed the projectile length is longer.

The rest of the projectile is almost identical in construction except for a bare aluminium base rather than the black anodising.

Any thoughts on what it would be used for?

Hi, I used to have one loaded in a 20 x 139 HS820/Oerlikon KAD steel case. The common version encountered has the curved profile to the petals, unlike this version with the sharper lines. Don't have any documentation to that effect, happy to be corrected.
Dave.
