Had a cutdown 25pdr cartridge given to me today,, Its 1972 dated and manufacturer mark of OFA,,,could someone please tell me who OFA is,, also out of curiosity does anyone know when 25pdr cartridge production ceased here in the UK
Hi Spotter,
I'm fairly sure it's Indian, the IG ^ inspection mark on the primer is a Indian inspection mark I have come across on 'later manufactured' Lee Enfield rifles and bayonets.
Looking at the primer it may be a KF production. KF being Kirkee Foundry (Factory). Kirkee has a small arms production facility and an HE plant.
Sorry I cant answer the question regarding the cessation of 25pr production in the UK. I know that Pakistan still offers 25pr shell and cartridges from its Ordnance Factories.
