Not sure if I've put this in the right section but here goes anyway. Some of you will be familiar with the amazing artwork of Tony Dempski of Ordnance Archive. He produced folios on individual types with detailed artwork that is so amazing that years after he gave me these samples i regularly take them out to look at. Being a bit of an artist myself, well I like the odd pint or two, I can appreciate the effort that must have gone into producing this work, you can even see the shadow stampings in the steel. I've shown 25pdr pages and 1 from the 3.7 inch folio. I expect his folios are out of print now, which is a shame. Hope those not familiar with his work will enjoy.

Hi Dave,
Thank you very much for sharing those, best regards Weasel.

I suspect some of the illustrated shells may be theoretical and never actually existed, eg some of those in NATO colour schemes. I say this because in the early/mid 70s when UK was running out of 25-pr ammo for the UOTCs, HAC and OP Btys residual Belgian stocks were purchased and only the old markings were ever seen. I also have doubts about some others, but only based on never having come across them named in 25-pr Range Tables, and if ammo was not covered by a RT then it did not officially exist. Of course they may have been some production for obscure non NATO nations that retained 25-pr, but that invites the question 'why NATO markings?', such armies were more likely to stick with the old British ones, basically still used in places like Pakistan if their adverts are to be believed.

Somewhere i have about 1500 of these drawings. I see if i can dig them out.

Cheers

Pete

Hi,

I had the pleasure of meeting Tony at the War and Peace show last year and think his artwork is fantastic.

Please keep in mind that he prepares the illustrations for a living and I expect that they are copyrighted.

Perhaps someone should check whether he is happy to have them reproduced here?

Cheers,

Gary

The drawings by him do have copyright written on them,,is anyone in contact with the artist or know where i can contact him so i can ask if its ok to show his artwork on site

If you do make contact, can we ask if we can buy prints from him....I thought he was going to produce a book at one point, which I'd happily have bought.

Hi ....I think his name is actually Tony DEBSKI and he lived, last time I saw him, in Colchester.
