There's nothing I hate more than going to a gun show without enough money in my pocket to buy the nuclear warhead that shows up there! Such was the case at the recent Small Arms Review Show in Phoenix, Arizona a few weeks ago.
I only know of 3 or 4 of thes.e practice warheads for the Davy Crockett atomic recoilless rifle in private collections and this was easily the best I've seen. A couple friends were guided toward the round and one eventually bought it when I couldn't. Better to have it "in the family" than sold to a stranger and never seen again. And he might just get tired of it someday and sell it to me later:tinysmile_shy_t:.
The base had the fuze setting ring intact but the whole upper end was gutted. The upper half is constructed of fiberglas with the lower tail and fins being aluminum. For realistic practice loading, I assume it originally had a simulated core to add weight and give a reason for the 1" diameter white center-of -gravity markings. Any of those internal bits are now gone. But it sure looks great on the outside.
Just thought you guys might like to see one that got away.
