Hi all,

Could someone tell me into what case(s) an American 3" M29 Mod1 APCBC projectile would have loaded into, please? And when was it introduced, and for what period was it used?

Thanks in advance,

Roger.

The Mod 1 leads me to believe its Navy. Would it be stamped Mk. 29? Does it have an anchor on it?

If Navy, it goes with the 3" 50 Cal case.

Hazord,

Many thanks for your info. Yes, the drive-band is stamped LOT 10-43-3" AP MK29 MOD 1 CSC OFA [anchor] [anchor] J S E [anchor).

Was it only used by the USN, and only in the 50-Cal case, or was it used in other cases?

Roger.

Since your projectile is dated 1943, It would have only been used in the 3" 50 cal case. It could have been used up through Vietnam if sufficient supplies still existed.

The Army has their own projectiles which are longer, the M61 and M62. The Navy projectile does use the Army fuze though.
