HEAR I HAVE 3 BRITISH MANUFACTURED 3 POUNDERS

(1) THE ONE ON THE LEFT IS A H.E-T BASE BLEED MK 1
(2) THE MIDDLE ONE IS A H.E-T MK VII WITHOUT SCREW ON PETRUDING TRACER
(3) THE ONE ON THE RIGHT IS A H.E MK IV

No 1 HAS A TAPERED THREAD FOR THE No 19/19A FUZE

No 2 " " " " " " " " "

No 3 HAS A TAPERED THREAD, THE FUZE HOLE IS ONLY 21.26MM / 0.8370 Inch or 7/8ths OF AN INCH, WHICH FUZE DOES THIS TAKE ??

ALL 3 PROJECTILES ARE OF DIFFERENT HEIGHTS AS SEEN ON PHOTOS

DOES ANYONE HAVE A LINE DRAWING OF THE FUZES FOR THESE 3 POUNDERS
THANKYOU001.jpg002.jpg003.jpg

anyone have line drawings of the fuzes for these 3 pounder projectiles, thanks

It is probably a smoke tracer if anything, but it looks like a demill//inerting, future lamp hole. My 37mm smoke tracer has a very small hole approx. 1/16th inch diameter.

It's one of those little projectile technologies that you don't see very often, but are very interesting.

Hello Earni74,

Could you give total length of each round ?

Could you post pictures of markings. Thanks.

Other examples of 3pr HE (I assume the Mk4 without adpater on pictures is fuzed with No44).

Regards

Sorry both, just got to this. Have sent emails and apologise for any duplication.

Thanks Bonnex.

Earni74, I think your shell Mk IV could be a Common Lyddite Mk4, same length as Mk V (plate), and fuzed with No19A.

Attached is a drawing for the "Day Tracer" round. With the amount of volume assigned to the "Day Tracer" fluid and the pitiful voulme assigned to the HE charge, makes one wonder if it was worth the effort.

Minenaz16,

Well spotted!

I've just had another look and I haven't got a drawing for the 3Pr, but I would imagine the layout would be similar.

Thanks Tim. I didn't even know they made day tracers in that large a caliber.

After seeing Tim's drawing, It is looking like that projectile is a day tracer version.
