Did it come from a Mk V Blank carton or bundle? If not it could be Egyptian, these are plentyful at the moment, used on the battle re-enactment circuit.

WW2 British MKV blanks without a headstamp are common and the Mk9 can also be found without a headstamp

It was in small collection I've just acquired. Don't think it is egyptian, as we did use it here back in the late forties before we went full .30 cal with the membership of NATO.
I will file it as a Mk5 blank. Thx all.

Have a look under Blank L Mark 9z (Page 103). Made by Radway Green in the early 1960s. They were very common at one time, we had boxes of them in the cadet armoury in those days.

OK, it could of course be a Mk 9z, but the crimping looks longer than the very short one on the Mk 9. I'll see if I can make a decent photo tomorrow.
