Hi,

Can any one please tell me if the 303 MkII* is a hollow nose as in"Military rifle and machine gun cartridges, by Jean Huon"
or is it an exposed lead tip as in "The British service Lee by Ian Skennerton"
and can some one tell me the headstamp please?

Thanks Grapeshot

Mark II*

The Mark II* was also known as the Mark II Special, and whilst some experimental rounds were made at Woolwich and also by Eley Bros., the service loads were all made in India.

The round had a small exposed lead tip and is found with both Kirkee and Dum Dum Indian headstamps of the period.

The attached page is from Part 2 of my .303 book which is in course of preparation.

Regards
TonyE
