30mm aden type

a friend sent me these photo's for I.D but i have not seen this before with wires coming out of the base, anyone got any idea as to what it is, thanks

My best guess would be regular AP with aluminium shield that someone has put in a vice (you can see the marks), drilled a hole in and glued in a piece of flex. Why, god only knows. I can't see it having any functional use other than an IED.

I agree Charlie, what a strange thing to do, as for the vice grip marks (say no more)

I have it now, the fuze/plug does not unscrew, the stamp on the fuze/plug is (B Ltd) and top of the projectile stamped (BRD-57) any ideas anyone, thanks

Mick please see some of the 1957 trial aden projs I have, non of which have a drill base-all rounded, looking at the residue on the base it looks like it has been stuck/ glued to something, most likely later on been modified by some one for what reason then ?????? cheers womble

Hi Womble, its not glue, just where the paint has been rubbed off, the two wires are held by orange "rubber" one wire has a copper core and the 2nd wire has a black core, i cant find any ref to the stamps on the fuze/plug or the proj, so still a mystery (for now I hope)

Mick sorry it looked like residue of epoxy - many trials were carried out please see pic of sectioned ones some with shorter projs and also a bakerlite/plastic one, the only thing it could be is a full length round for resistance testing - please see pic- two different resistance carts(red and green), but I have not heard/come across a full round one - if the wire continued from the proj in the case to the primer then inside the proj there could be a resistor- it might be worth you testing between the two wires and if the resistance is 19 - 20 odd ohms then this could be the answer. cheers womble
