Please help with the identification of this Drill Round. If it is infact a ligitimate item. The 40 mm Bofor is for comparison.

Calibre: 34.3 mm

Case Length: 228 mm

Weight: 1.5 kg

Metal: Ferrous (Appears Lacquered Coated). No visible lathe marks.

The round was advertised as a Drill from WW 2. There are no other visible marks or head stamp.

Your assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Is the rim 54.5mm diameter?

If so it is probably a 35 x 228 oerlikon round, which is in service with the South African Navy.

Possibly Denel?

It is not a round that was in service in WW2. It is a current round in service in South Africa and was introduced fairly recently.
