It is 1pdr heavy, 37X135R made by Peerless Enginering and Machine Co.Used by the US Navy. Headstamp a little unusual, looks more like an exsport marking. This round was exported in WW1 to France and Russia amongs others/ It was also used in the Mclean auto gun besides various quick firing guns.

Either someone was trying to section the projectile or was playing around for some unknown reason. You can readily replace the projectile.
