Well, a long time ago, I posted this thred...

http://www.bocn.co.uk/vbforum/threads/80629-Question-on-US-4-quot-50-Mark-6-Common?highlight=450cal

And I finally found the other half...

Found this in an out of the way gunshop whose owner has collected a bunch of ordnance over 40 years from customers and friends...

I saw it last Tuesday, but the owner wasn't there to talk to, so I went back Saturday morning. Met him and talked to him about the case, he said he didn't normally get rid of the ordnance stuff, I showed him a pic of the projectile I had, and told him I had been chasing this case for sometime, and we continued to look at the other ordnance. I filled him in on everything, as he didn't really know much about it all, and we enjoyed going through it all. At the end he asked me what I would think about paying for it. I made an offer, he accepted, and said he decided to sell because it was going somewhere where it would be appreciated, and be joined with the projectile, so I was ecstatic.

A long time chasing this case, and they fit together like a glove...and it is one REALLY long round!

I've never seen a projectile over here, but have had 2 of the cases(only have 1 now). I think they were left behind from US Navy ship visits in the late '30's.

Good job in matching them up, its very satisfying when an ongoing hunt succeeds.
