Earlier this week I was at an auction featuring quite a bit of ordnance. After all was said and done as everyone was hauling away their loot and garbage (lots of canvas and web gear), I picked this up from the trash on the floor. A small cotton open ended bag. Can anyone tell me what it is for?

Hello US-Subs,
Looks like a bag for a Burster charge or propelling charge to me.
But I can't find a picture or Docs of it
LEAFLET

I was thinking along the lines of bursting charge, however the bursting charge weights for the Mk VI & Mk VII are given as 4 oz. There is no mention on the drawings I have of the bursting charges being bagged. However, there were several methods of preventing powder working its way up the central tube (those Mks that didn't have filled central tubes) wads etc. Furthermore, bursting charges were of F.G., R.F.G., or S.F.G. not L.G.

As the 4.7" was Q.F. separate, the bag is particular to the projectile.
