4 inch Mk.16 Guage Testing Fuze Setting Machine (Tool / Round)

Just arrived in my collection of "Drill Dummies". Not that it is a Drill Round at all, but inert none the less.

The 4 inch Mk.16 was used on the South African Loch Class ships. SAS Natal (HMS Cree), SAS Good Hope (HMS Boisdale) and the SAS Transvaal (HMS Ard).

From what I have been able to learn is that this round was used to check the Fuze Setting Machine. The Fuze Setting machine was used to make ajustments to the fuze prior to firing the gun for Anti Aircraft use. Please help me if I'm wrong.

It would appear as if there is signs of black paint on the projectile. Does any body know if this was the colour used on this projectile ?

Thank you Shaky. Interesting photos. The round in the fuze setter (Wooden) looks like the standard Drill Round for the 4 inch M'. 16.
