4 inch Projectile for identification please.

I received this request and info from a friend, can any one please help with the identification of the 4 inch projectile?

Please excuse the quality of the photos. Its all I have.

Please help if you can provide any info regarding the attached pics.
Pic 1. I assume a shrapnel round, pretty big. Traces of a matt green paint.
On the round is the following:

4[SUP]in[/SUP] H XVIIIB NT/N FA
RITTO / 12 LOT 50 FS

The FS stands for "Forged Steel"

Just received a few dimensions.

Diameter appox. 90 mm

Hight : 450 mm

Maybe the clue we are looking for?
