40 mm for id please

Hi looking for some help in ID'ing all the marks on this 40mm shell, its not mine but might be soon!

Looks like British Navy.

Indeed British navy, ECC = Elswick Cartridge Company. Interesting to see the case is modern with a WW2 dated primer.

I always understood that ECC was Edward Curran Cardiff and that for Elswick it was EOC, for Elswick Ordnance Company.

I rechecked my lists, and indeed I have 2 potential candidates for ECC including (almost) the one you mention "Edward Curran Co (Engineering of Cadif)". Since Cadif is a non-existing place, and Cardiff does exist in the UK, I am sure my reference has at least some spelling errors.

Thanks guys.... do you know what the mark is under the EEC and what are the marks on the primer. Also do you think the primer has been added to sell the case or were old WWII primers used until stocks ran out?......paul.

ECC - Edward Curran Ltd, Cardiff
BB (I think it is) Bluemel Brothers Ltd, Wolston, Nr Coventry - manufacturer of the primer
BR - ROF Brigend, filling factory

! Are there any markings on the side of the case?

2 The Primer is a N12 MK3

3 Most of the 40 mm I worked on were fitted with the N12 MK 4 filled at ROF Chorley

4 As far as I know ECC was Edward Curran of Cardiff .
