40mm Bofors Help & ID?

Hi Guys,
I am looking for information on this 40mm Bofors projectile, the only markings on it are on the driving band and from what i can make out it is stamped with:

AL 10001-2838653 B SFM 876 001-048A ..40

Any info, date, origin etc would be great, also any ideas why this has a flat, solid base??

Thanks,
Darren

Hi Darren, looks like a French mfg. 40/60 Bofors - made circa. 1976.? If original paint then would opt for HE/lncdy. loading. The fuze can be the self destroying element in this design. Sorry its not more and conclusive. Cheers, RonB.

I tend to agree with PW that it is French, made by Socit Franaise des Munitions (SFM) but it has been repainted.

Thanks for the information guys,

i did think that it had been repainted at some point in its time, im just a little unsure as to why it has a solid base, is it common for these?
