Can anyone identify the projectile in the attached pictures, and advise what base fuze and case would be fitted. No marks and band is original.

Thanks in advance.

Sorry I cant give a positive i.d. on this, however it does remind of a 2 pounder AT gun projectile. If I may ask the length ? I don't know of an H E design for this however, it does look similar to my AP/T 2 pdr.

Hi BD,
It is just the profile of the driving band that has me confused, the cavity in the base looks a bit large for any 2pr I have seen, too big even for a No281 fuse.
Best Weasel.

could the thread in the base be for an adaptor rather than a fuze like the 3pr CD. and the band looks a bit 40mm L70 ie modern. Not much help in ID ing but it might get some ideas come up.

Thanks for the comment so far guys. The length of the projectile is about 142mm and the driving band is almost the reverse profile to a L/70. The L/70 is raised in the middle whereas this one is 'rebated'. I was thinking Italian 37/40 as the closest match but it isn't that either. The base threads are fine and could just be for a plug with the idea that the shock/heat of impact would set it off.
