Greetings all.
The pics show a 47mm projectile i recently purchased from that well known auction site, actually sold as trench art with the description ''no scavo'' which i think means not dug (search wellknownauction italy with the word scavo to see what i mean)
I'm assuming a smoke round due to holes and a ballistic cap thats missing ?
BUT...is the horseshoe cut original to the item or has it been added later ? my first thoughts on the horseshoe were that it had been gas axed in,but on closer examination its extremely well machined.
The driving band is also missing, its hollow to within a few mm of the point and has threads (for base fuze?).
Would anyone have anyone have any ideas on it or pointers to enable me to research further
