Hello,
Here are three 47mm saluting shell cases compared to a French 47mm Model 1885 Hotchkiss casing.
From left to right:
- Unidentified, dated 1980 (or 1986?)
– length: 233mm- Royal Laboratory, dated 1941 – length: 250mm
- 3-pdr saluting shot / 3-pdr BLANK Mk6, dated 1986 – length: 250mm
This suggests that Model 1885-type guns were still in service during the 1980s, at least for blank saluting rounds (?).
Note that these casings are available in Europe for potential exchange.
