Anyone know the reason for the different primer aperture's, on these two 47x131mm cases, thanks20201007_114550 (1).jpg20201007_105219.jpg

I am no expert here but Hawkinson's book says the 5cm boat gun (2 1/2 Pr Hotchkiss) has 10mm, 12.1mm pressed in primers or a 13mm screw-in primer.
I only have the EOC Elswick round with pressed-in primer.
Your first case is definitely a Hotchkiss type primer and surround groove.
