5.56 drill round ???

Just found this round at the bottom of a box of grenade spares.
Anyone got any info on it?
It seems to be a standard 5.56 round but the case is silver instead of brass. is it an early drill round with out the grooves?
On the base is F N 79

Yes, it is a fairly common drill round by Fabrique Nationale.

It is quite normal for FN drill rounds not to have grooves in the case. The chromed finish is their identifier for a drill round. FN would only add the grooves if the customer asked for it.
