577/450 Martini Henry round

Found this at a local flea market (boot sale) I picked it up for $2 (a quid).

;)

It is loaded and, presumably, shootable.

The only cleaning that I did was to wipe it with a damp sponge. Makes me think that there is the remainder of a box out there.

The green patch indicates that it is a cordite loaded carbine round.

This is a commercial load, and whilst not rare is relatively scarce. They were available commercially until the 1960s from Kynoch.

Orange patch is blackpowder carbine, white is blackpowder rifle and blue is cordite rifle.
