Have seen quite a few like this, with no date, but also some with 1917 and 1918 dates. I don't know when the Mk.III case was introduced, but no doubt someone here can tell us, which will give the earliest date it might be. The next question is whether there are othe Mk.III cases with later dates, and when the Mk.IV case came in.
Having a couple of these cases, I will be interested to find out the answer!
