Hi,can anybody post a cutaway drawing of a British 6 pdr Hotchkiss drill round circa 1900. Think it may be a mk2. Brass case, knurled rim, wooden projectile held in by 3 brass screws, NO holes in lower part of case. Any help appreciated.Tig
Have the following round in the collection, but do not know if it is an official drill, an unofficial one made by a Unit armourer, or someone's home-made attempt at making the case look complete. The "projectile" is wood, - maybe oak,- and goes right to the bottom of the case, where it is fixed with 3 brass screws. It is quite well made, being a close fit to the case neck, and with a mock driving band turned on. The case rim is smooth.
Thank you very much for the reply and pics Roger. Yours looks too well made for a repro, but is different than mine. Im missing the wood and screws,a friend mentioned(Dave!!) having the lead core that goes inside the wood in his shed, screws I can make so just need the correct profile for the wood. cheers tigView attachment 104274View attachment 104275View attachment 104276
