What a pity it has been destroyed as it looks like it would have cleaned up nicely and of course it is very rare-never even seen a 7.2" before.

This looks like it could be a 175mm shell (as fired by the M107 Self Propelled Gun). It is nicely streamlined and the boat tail looks familiar. Shells were carried plugged and it looks as if it has not been fired. Was the body colour green? If so then it would not be the old UK 7.2".
