7.5cm M15 Mountain gun case

This case measures 75 x 129 x 85mm and I assume that it is for the Austro Hungarian mountain gun but manufacture by Rheinmetall. This is the first time I have actually seen the way in which the steel base is fixed to the brass. The case has an original black band at the base of the case - does anyone know what that signifies?
