I'm no expert on small-arms (prefer something 'meaty!), so would appreciate i.d. on this 7.92mm headstamp.

The reference book I have says it was made by Poltewerk,Grunberg,Poland,later code was auy.

The address of that branch of Polte is normally given as Nordbahn, Germany, which is just north of Berlin.

Your case is copper washed steel, but as I don't have the list of steel mills etc. to hand, I will leave it to others to tell you where the steel came from and other details.

Wow, many thanks for all the info guys. We've all got our own areas of expertise, but I'm always humbled by what other people know; and I don't. Someting new every day.
