does anyone have any idea as to what engine used a 70mm dia 180mm high brass cartridge with a 5mm rim and British broad arrow mark. The base marks are :
cart elec eng start rlb 74/ 8
076 gd 74
Theres a slight roll turnover to the rim which I assume held in an over powder wad. Also would the wad have been celluloid (nitrocellulose) or similar in order for it not to foul the cylinder of the engine. I remember looking at a few of the original Marshall tractor starting cartridges some years ago and they contained a black square grained powder which when I think about it was very similar to ballistite, often wondered was it war surplus!
Thanks,
Paul
