Hi, Can anyone ID this 75mm head stamp? Not a great picture but the best I can do at the moment, it is stamped USA to the right.
Best I can read is from 9 o'clock anticlockwise is S small c B small x 460L USA 15 something at the 12 o'clock position.
Cheers.
Hello.
Your case is french for the " Canon de 75 modèle 1897 ". At 12 o'clock, you can read 75 DE C : 75 DE Campagne = Field gun.
At 6 o'clock Sc-Bx ( Schneider à Bordeaux) the manufacturer of the case, then 460L = 460 ième lot de, then the two last digits of the year of manufacture but I can't read them and at least the metal supplier here USA means that the brass comes from USA.
I show a case identical to yours but more readable.
Regards.
