Hi,

Shell case looks to have a typical Belgian arrangement of text on the bottom. All of the shell cases I have from FN (Fabrique Nationale) have same arrangement.

Brgds

timefuze

TR = "Tir Rapide" in French (= QF in English)

I've never seen such a shell.
British fuze and case with French markings, strange.

Cheers

Apologies Minenaz16- must have been thinking of food as it was lunchtime!!
Tranche is slice
Tir is shoot so literal translation is shoot rapidly.
Quite correctly QF would mean the same.

I am assuming the projectile does fit the case?!!
Apart from the drive band with the lack of dimensions I would have said an 18 pounder if I just saw the pic?!
And sayin that driveband looks too shuare to me?

Farre - check the diameter of the projectile.
Did you get these as two seperate items or assembled together?

looking at the driving band and how much it sticks out from the body I would ask has the body diameter been reduced due to corrosion being cleaned off?

Understand your thinking 2pounder but would expect there to be a bit more invasive evidence of this.
It`s the fact the drive band has no chamfer or lead that interests me & the fact it appears to be so squre & proud of proj body.
By the way Happy New Year - see you at this years BOCN meet?

Theoretically I buy everything I join, and come near near, tomorrow I will measure the tape of rubbing of the proyectile

75x278R x86 Belgian1.jpg75x278R x86 Belgian3.jpg75x278R x86 Belgian2.jpgBelgian C75..............most cases 278mm long. So... 75x278R x86 There are several cases in this size range from different guns/countries....mostly they have larger rim diameters.
