77mm German gas shell....

Hi all,
Firstly,please excuse my ignorance.
I'm about to take delivery of an inert & empty First war 77mm German gas shell with what I think is an economy driving band. (I will post pictures when it arrives).I don't have a great deal of info on these projectiles, very little in fact, but what I have seen and read of these shells suggests that the fuse has what appears to be a wooden dowel at the tip? I have seen pics and info relating to Blue cross and Green cross shells, both with this 'dowel' tipped fuse.
However, the shell on its way to me has no such thing, instead having a solid point/tip. Is this the 'norm'?

I collect mid to heavy HE/Shrapnel stuff so this is a bit out of my realm, but I would like to learn more about this particular piece, so any info anyone might be able to provide on 77mm gas shell types/variations and fuse types/operation would be very much appreciated.
Would this shell have had an impact fuse with a lower charge, enough just to eject the fuse and rupture the internal gas bottle?
Again, willing to learn more about my new addition...
Many thanks in advance gents!
Dylan
