Today I got two 77x230R Cases from the car boot I usually go to. Drawings of the headstamps are shown below:

1) German, Most likely "Allgemeine Elektricitts-Gesellschaft", or rather "AEG" who we all know from fridges and washing machines. Is this right?

2) This is the one I believe is made by Haerens Laboratorium, Copenhagen, Denmark. they used the "HL" marking on small arms ammunition such as 8x58R Krag M/89. Was Denmark allied with Germany during WW1, as the style of marking is almost identical.

Hi Falcon,

you're right about A.E.G.

According to my notes H.L. is short for Haupt Laboratorium from Ingolstadt in Germany.
The St stands for stark (=strong) meaning that the case is strengthened (sp?) compared with the original version (pre 1908).

Kind regards Arjen

Thanks for the info, I also recieved that answer on another forum so that backs up that answer even more.
