81mm Mortar Round Wrench Spanner?

Helol all. I have in my collection a L54A1 illuminating mortar round (completely inert of course).

As the paint is very poor, I intend to strip its finish, polish it, and probably section it.

Is there an easy way of removing the nose (timer?) without a specialist wrench tool?

wow, they are really nice.

With these mortar rounds, are the holes at the top for accepting some sort of tool for unscrewing the nose fuze 'in the field' or are they factory fitted and unremoveable?

Hi Tokarev, yes the holes are there for fitting it with a tool and would have been fitted at the factory i would have thought, good luck with yours.
