82mm drill round?

82mm diameter, 412mm length The groove runs from the base to just short of the top. If anyone knows the nomenclature and any other info it would be greatly appreciated.

Never saw one wrapped in canvas. Very interesting. The keyway/slot may be a clue to its usefulness. Is that a wooden plug in the nose?

From canvas wrapped drill rounds i've seen they usually represent the propellant charge,whats the diameter at the top?
