84mm Carl Gustav Practice Projectile.

I ask if the 84mm Carl Gustav Practice projectiles were ever painted in the old colours as shown. I can still see some blue under the black paint as shown.
I wondered if this was just an early Australian repaint scheme or most likely done by some collector with artistic dreams??
All other similar nosed projectiles are the metallic blue colour.

Looks home done... Irregular edge along the yellow band looks typical of a tape line rather than something done officially.

British Version is practice blue with white writing, no band.

Below is my British PRAC round showing factory blue paint finish on the projectile - no holes in the skirt though as per one above... could the above be a fired 'live' projectile then used as a PRAC - if this was done - and later 'restored' by a collector (as a 'live' one)?

Blue has been the practice colour since 1964 in the UK and Aust. 84 prac even the UK L model numbers were blue

There were some interesting colour variations for these Gustav rounds.
In 1974 I was an artillery surveyor in 1 Fd Regt RAA. I specifically used to survey all the Artillery and Infantry impact areas. Obviously whilst I was in these areas I found countless expended projectiles for all sorts of weapons....84mm, 76mm Armd C, 105mm How, old 25 Pr and 6 Pr stuff etc etc.
The Gustav projectiles I found were stencilled 84mm PRAK ATK, painted blue with white stencilling, 84 mm PRAK ATK painted metallic blue with white stencilling and 84 mm PRAK ATK painted black with white stencilling and a one inch painted blue band half way up the spigot. The blue was a dark blue not the normal Prac blue
This last mentioned always worried me a lot as it was non standard but one of them ended up in my collection anyway.
I have a very poor photo of this particular round but it is not digital so for someone as technically challenged as me it would be nigh on impossible to present it here.

Interesting... I have a DRILL round also - think L50A1 - projectile is standard DRILL colour of dark blue. BTW, am interested if anyone should have any mint complete CG rounds for sale...

Here is my Swedish Black Practice HES -T with a blue band on the spigot.
It also has the holes and slits in the skirt. Maybe this is common on Swedish 84mm ?

Same as the one of which I speak. Found on a firing range in Australia and given it's location in Queensland probably fired by 8/9 RAR.
