88mm Packing item?

Hi there
I recently acquired this item which is marked 8.8cm Flak 38 u. 41 and is 10cm diameter by 14 cm long. I assume it is a standoff to protect the fuze in a container, having seen similar ones made with strip steel supporting the rings.
Does anybody know which container type it would fit or has it some other purpose?

Thanks

I had one of these that was in the bottom of one of those steel, single round tubes the Germans used widely....the ones with the ribbed sides.

Thanks, that is what I needed to know. I wasn't sure if it had come from one of those wicker baskets. The body actually looks like it was made from one of those ribbed carriers that you mentioned.
