A lot of stores at 9 B.A.D. weren't really suitable for destroying in the demolition pits, thus the alternative was to sea dump them. It should be borne in mind that this was over 70 years ago and was the norm for the time. The ammunition was loaded onto goods wagons and moved to the rail-head at Abu Sultan wharf, where it was loaded onto barges. The barges were then taken out to the Red Sea and scuttled.
The people assisting with the unloading are a "Native Labour Battalion" - East African Pioneer Corps, known locally as "Jambos" due to their habit of greeting everyone in Swahili - "Jambo" meaning "Hello"
