90mm M71 before and after.

DEADLINE222

Well-Known Member
After several months worth of fighting to get this 90mm M71 centered on my little 9x20 lathe; I finally got lucky today.

The finish on the rotating band is not quite what I want, but I cannot heat up the steel anymore with what I currently have available to accomplish the desired, aged copper alloy effect.

Now, I believe a few "dang, Deadline you are the mans!" are in order.

No. It was only missing the rotating band.

What you see is the result of polishing the finished band and body on the lathe, at several thousand RPM.

The ogive was sanded by hand, that is why it is not shinny.
