90mm Transport Container For What Round?

Please can someone tell me exactly what round this transport container is for?

EDIT: After another look around it looks like it is to hold a 90mm Mecar HE F1 round, if someone could confirm this that would be great.

It's really sounds French, F1 is a typical marking (model) for French ordnance.
FUI F2 is a French PDF Fuze.
Never seen "R2M2" on French ammo (?)
I only know a modern type of 90mm (with tail) with FUI F2, not sure it's the same for your container.

Just a thought . .could it be for a 90mm cockerill projectile?.looking at the marks on the padding .

The marking "R2M2" sounds South African to me, I have seen similar on Grenades and SAA.

Not completely sure but isn't an R2M2 also a South African APERS mine ?

Yes, but what would that mean? A model designation is never used as just R2M2 or L1 or M1 or DM18. It just designates the model variation of the item specified together with this model designation in the same line.

Try to think of the US system and see what goes for the designation M1, that must be basically every singe item in the US inventory as it this is the designation all started with like M1 helmet, M1 tank, M1 rifle, M1..., M1... etc, etc, etc.

Same with R2M2 in South Africa and all the other model designations in other countries.

I wonder that this question turns up so frequently.

EOD. Sorry. I am unfamiliar with South African ordnance, and just wondering how the determination was made that it is South African.
I also however understand that just because I am looking at an Abrahams tank, I don't say "it's gotta be a Garand because it says it's an M1".

The 90mm was used on the South African Eland-90 and Ratel-90. Was used on the 90mm F1 gun. F1 stood for the gun type. Shells used - (90mm F1 HE R2R2) , (90mm F1 HEAT R1M1) , (90mm F1 Practice R1M1) , (90mm F1 Practice R1M2 'Converted HEAT') , (90mm Canister Shot) , 90mm Blank)
