ADEN Case types

I was asked recently by someone about the "J" stamp on ADEN cases. I explained it meant it was a Type J case, but was stumped to identify the other types.

Does anyone (Dave, Chris?) know the parameters of each case type.

I think A, B and C were Low Velocity cases, D was possibly the 120mm length case, but that is as far as I go. I have a few drawings but they do not give the case type letter.

Type A case was the successor of the 2130 case, rim diametre 31.9mm belt diametre 33.7mm case lenght 85.8mm overall cartridge lenght 199mm, low velocity case.
Type B case rim diametre 33.3mm, belt diametre 33.7mm case lenght 85.8, overall cartridge length 199mm, low velocity case.
Type C&D were extended lenght cases produced experimentally, type C case stretched to 120.mm, type D being strechd to 111.2mm long, both streched vertions were based on type B low velocity cases.
Type F case also 111.2mm but with the base section increased by 50% it also had a 2 grain cap plus booster bag.
Type H case also 111.2mm long but with the base section increases by 25% this also had a 2 grain cap plus booster bag.
After trails with type F&H cases a futher case type J was selected this having a 3 grain cap with the booster bag omitted, as for E&G cases they are not beleived to have progressed past the drawing board stage.

I appear to have a brass ADEN case that fits none of the above descriptions.
Everything looks standard apart from the rim at 31.5 mm and the length at 128.5mm (measured with a rule)
There are no marks anywhere but the round has been fired and has a small (2mm) hole drilled in the case about 50mm up from the rim.
Any ideas?
Will try and post a picture on monday.

it sounds like you have a pressure housing cartridge,from tests of the gun

Some of the LV ones have 31.5mm rims, they're quite scarce.
Look forward to seeing the photos.

Hi Hangerman,
I honestly don't know mate,I was going by the info on a DEFA case I have here,the hole is in the exact same place as you discribe,the info I have with it also says it was a test of a French gun but I'm sure the headstamp is German?(30x113 DM1 LOS VC-1-77-X)
