Aluminium No 5 Mills base plug from 1916

Got this the other day, i believe to be quite a rare Mills base plug. Its an aluminium plug, of the same style as the early plugs but dated 10/1916. Probably produced because of the brass shortage of 1916, i thought they used lead antimony instead and in very good condition for a dug item. Not really sure of the maker, probably Dobson & Barlow as there is a D and a faint & visble. i reccon its a s scarce as a Mills plug gets. One for the collection.

Nice one Andy. I think my oldest ali plug is 12/15 so you are probably right about the brass shortage. They may have had some old stock ali plugs around and given them the current date stamp or started making them again.
