Well-Known Member
American AN-M26, Flare, Aircraft, Parachute.

The AN-M26 is a flare which is discharged from its case and ignited when the fuze functions. It is parachute supported and burns for 3 to 3.5 minutes with a yellowish light of 800,000-candle power.

The complete round is 50 inches long, 8 inches in diameter, and weighs 52.5 pounds of which 14 pounds is flare charge.

The fuze flare, mechanical time, AN-M111 series is authorised for use with the AN-M26 flare.

AN-M111 series fuze attached to flare (not the best pic).

I am a little confused on these pics. The thread says they are of an AN/M26 Parachute flare, but the picture titles say they are of an AN/M46 Photoflash Bomb.
Can someone clarify this for me?

Larry
