Hi guys, having a bit of difficulty pinning this first one down, any ideas? dimensions as follows: L-743mm Dia-240mm Circ-730mm.The grove shown in one of the photos repeats 3 more times around the bearing surface. The base has a threaded 4 inch fuze well. Im guessing Naval?
Looks like a 9.2" APC/HE with its cap/windshield missing (hence the soldered ring in evidence),it would be unusual to find a Naval round on a range so far inland?
Cheers Chris,Hazord most usefull, I have heard somewhere that they used to test fire naval guns from the chemical munitions store at RAF bowes moor across the pennines when the formation of a super heavy school of artillery was being looked into during WW1, this may go someway to explaining its presence on WTA?!
