l was wondering if someone knew why this Brisbane FLH manufactured M36 is painted red over white. One suggestion is that it was instantanous ie used for booby traps or is it just a practice grenade?

I would put my money on a High Viz colour scheme for a practice grenade. I have a baseplate painted the same colour.

If you want to know the paints age try removing a small patch with thinners if it comes off then it's a recent addition to the grenade

Hi. Some Australian and NZ practice mills were paint red. Cheers

In WW2 some British Home Guard throwing practice grenades were painted red. These were not drill grenades but were just bodies, sometimes concrete filled. I've also got a couple of presentation grenades where the body has been nickle plated and the grooves painted red for effect.
