This is the early marked SMAREX white smoke grenade. These are hard to find.
It has 60 seconds but does not have the three C's or F2A1 name.
White is not a usual colour but may have been a special order? Green paint darkens when used.

is that a secondary primer on the top in front of the lever?was this primer for some other application?

Like the F2A1 you can screw on the plastic firing device F1A1 to use as a warning device.
See R.Landers or D.Lynn books for more info. Ron.

SMAREX Smoke Grenades.jpgHere is a SMAREX Violet Smoke Grenade also from MY 1986.
20 seconds burn time. This can vary from 15 to 100 seconds depending on customer requirements.
SMAREX was used before the F2A1 name on these early grenades and both white and violet were not standard colours for the F2A1 grenades. Hard to find these now.
