I found this Australian empty tin for Igniters for the Hawkins No.75 Grenade/Mine made/filled by ME in Victoria. Possibly a Mk11 igniter tin made/filled 1944.
It is an example I had to have but the label is in very poor condition. Still it is better than no tin till I hopefully find a better example.
Does anybody have a tin with a good label, either Australian or UK?
The dimensions are 172mm x 76mm x 32mm high. Would it have dividers or protection for the igniters as they had a glass vial inside?
The tin base is stamped: 1 No 376 J.G
I show 2 diagrams on the igniters from Landers book and the net. It shows the glass vial and No27 detonator and red end.
When crushed a chemical reaction causes a flash which ignites the detonator and the main charge. Used as a grenade or AT mine.
