Auxiliary Units / ?SOE Magnesium Incendiary

Hi, I am trying to identify what is described in the Auxiliary Units manual of 1942 (titled Calendar 1938) as a 'Magnesium Incendiary' with stated dimension of 8 inches x 2 inches , fitted with a match=headed bickford fuse and a plain bickford fuse. States can also be used as a signal flare. Seems similar to the Incemdiary Thermit Bomb as illustrated in Anders' magnificant book, p.117 but the size does not match. I wondered if it might be the SOE Magnesium Incendiary 2 1/2lb (L Flare) but have not seen an illustration.
Any ideas?

Any similarities to image on page 118? Just read the 1938 description. I think it tallies with the image on page 118 of Ander’s book

I was talking about the black device at top of page 118….Bomb incendiary 1lb…20cm long….4.6 cm diameter so 7.8 inch long/1.8inch diameter. Also known as Incendiary Medium Light ML Flare
