Who is the manufacturer / contractor that uses/used the initials ' B & SB '?
I've seen it on all sorts of ordnance items from containers to practice bombs.
I have no listing for B & SB. However, I suspect that it might be Bulpitt & Sons, Birmingham. I have them listed solely as B & S.
Bulpitt and Sons
of 46, Northwood Street, Birmingham
of 153-161 and 175 Camden Street, Winson Green, Birmingham.
Telephone: Central 3231. Telegraphic Address: "Bulpitt, Birmingham". (1937)
Better known as “Swan Brand” – especially for their electric kettles. The company was responsible for inventing the electric cut-out connector. If the kettle overheated, it would be automatically switched off.
Tim in answer to your question, yes they are/were all Aluminium and I also had a large number of pressed Aluminium fuze and component containers with screw caps (incidentally the caps were of pressed steel) but the bodies Aluminium.
Thanks all for the info.
Agree ,most items i've seen with this 'B & SB' have been aluminium.
The practice bombs though are the 81/2 lb break ups, made of steel and bakelite. I'll try and dig out a few examples.
