Found this one at a WWII special forces camp. Consists of a rimmed Bakelite cylinder, fitted with a .410 SG base and what appears to have been a delay/relay stem. Cart Case is a push fit. Any ideas?
great news and right on the mark. Fit's with location as N074 was not a general issue grenade. because of some issues it was restricted to special units
It puzzled me too paul for a long time then I was fortunate enough to stand next to a E.o.d Expert who deactivated a Mk1 flask and I could see how the flasks were stored in the boxes. Start from the glass flask the explosive is in then a aluminum sleave fitted in the neck and your part fits inside that sleave then a card board washer waxed on both sides topped off with a collar same as on the handles. I was wondering while searching over a old range I kept finding the collars.... that's why thy were part of the storing
Mine still has the aluminium sleeve as well. Ive found a few collars too and always wondered how they had survived such a blast unscathed. Thanks for the revelation dave.
